Dance Recitals

Our annual dance recitals allow our dancers the opportunity to showcase all that they have learned throughout the dance season. Participation in our recital is voluntary but highly encouraged. The majority of our students perform in the recital (traditionally, we have a 99% participation rate). All of our dancers, except for our youngest 2 to 3 year old Creative Movement classes, are invited to participate in our year-end recitals. Generally, dancers perform in only one show; however, if they are enrolled in multiple dance classes, they may be performing in more than one show. Moreover, despite our best efforts, we cannot guarantee that siblings will perform in the same show. Families of dancers who are in more than one recital show were notified via email by Miss Maria back in December.

Our 2019 dance recitals will take place on Saturday, June 8 at the Kennedy Middle School, located at 655 Lexington Street in Waltham. In an effort to keep our recitals at a moderate duration, and allow for the majority of siblings to perform in the same recital show, we will schedule three shows throughout the recital day: 10:30 am; 1:30 pm; and 4:30 pm. The majority of our students will only perform in one recital show. This allows for a more pleasurable experience for our dancers and audience members.

Recital DVDs are sold by Gary Antle Productions. Order forms are available at the studio prior to recital date, and may be purchased at the recital, and also after the recital by visiting Bouquets of Flowers are also sold at the recital, as well as, our studio dance apparel and merchandise which make great recital day presents for our performers. Professional dance photos will take place during the dress rehearsals.

“We wanted to let you know how incredibly excited and grateful we are about how wonderful the last 2 days have been for our daughter. She really loved all of the dancing and watching the others dance and is literally dancing instead of walking to move from one place to the next…”
J.T. July 9, 2015
“I wanted to thank you for a wonderful year. My daughter very much enjoyed herself. She had a great time with you and has learned so much. You and all of your teachers did an amazing job with the dancers and routines and costumes. You are really an amazing dance teacher.”

Lindsay H., July 1, 2015
“Congratulations on the recital. We thought it was great! This was my daughter’s 3rd recital (her first two were with her previous dance studio), and I have to say I thought you did a fantastic job! “
Liza P., June 18, 2015
“I had wanted to tell you in person just how much I loved Sunday’s recital. It was a wonderful day and my daughter had such a good time. She is really shy and I never in a million years thought she would actually get on stage and dance and she actually did it!!! I know this was due to how well you prepared the girls for the experience. It was a huge boost for her confidence and I am so appreciative. ”
Eileen H., June 16, 2015
“Great show last night! The girls had such a fantastic time. They were over the moon! Thank you for a great year.”

Dress Rehearsal Information

Dress rehearsals take place on Thursday, June 6 and Friday, June 7 at the Kennedy Middle School in Waltham.

  • Dress rehearsals for our 10:30 am recital show will take place on Friday, June 7 at starting at 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm.
  • Dress rehearsals for our 1:30 pm recital show will take place on Friday, June 7 starting at 5:00 pm to 6:30 pm.
  • Dress rehearsals for our 4:30 am recital show will take place on Thursday, June 6 starting at 4:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

Dancers should arrive dressed in their recital costume, with their correct color tights and their correct color dance shoes depending on dance style (pink ballet shoes, black tap shoes, black jazz shoes, and Converse hip hop sneakers) in their dance bag. Please contact us if you do not know the color of tights your child should wear on rehearsal and recital day. We sell tights and dance shoes at our studio.

We recommend having hair done the same way it would be on recital day. We prefer buns for girls, but neat pony tails are also acceptable, especially for hip hop and acro. Make-up is suggested but not required.

We run rehearsals on a very tight schedule and cannot repeat any dance routines for students who run late so please arrive a few minutes before the scheduled time noted above, ready to dance in costume with hair and make-up done.

A family member must stay with our younger dancers during our dress rehearsals to help with shoe/costume changes. Rehearsals is your only chance to stand up & take photos/video of your child. During recital everyone MUST remain seated. We do not allow flash photography at the recital and iPads/other large electronic devices including tripods are not permitted in the auditorium on recital day. Gary Antle Productions will be video taping the recital and DVDs will be available for sale.

We will not be scheduling class photos this year. However, one of our dance parents is a professional photographer and will take professional dancer photos at the same venue on Thursday, June 6 and Friday, June 7 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm. Photos are voluntary. There is no sitting fee. All we ask is that you make dress rehearsals your priority and only have photos taken well before or after your child has rehearsed on stage. For more information on the photos, please click HERE.
